Welsh Development Agency

Alan worked for the WDA in the 1980’s. The WDA was previously regarded as the UK’s leading and most successful inward investment brand. Alan was at the forefront of the inward investment drive to Wales. While at the WDA Alan met numerous international companies considering European investment and learnt much about inward investment policy and grant support.

With this experience Alan then became the Economic Development Manager of the former Mid Glamorgan County Council previously one of largest public bodies in Wales.

In developing the economy of Mid Glamorgan Alan devised a dual programme of activity revolving around a targeted inward investment campaign and the fostering of new indigenous businesses.

Alan was at the forefront of the birth of the enterprise agency movement and sat on the management boards of a number of Mid Glamorgan agencies including MADE and Taff Ely.

“For the Vision to have credibility it must demonstrate that it can make a real difference to the people and future of Yeovil. My key priority is to move projects from the “drawing board” to actual delivery thereby turning the Vision into a reality”.
